PhD Application requirements:
Before you apply for a PhD position in the working group Computational Statistics, make sure you fit the following profile:
Funding: The chair will at certain times offer funded positions on this page. If this is not the case, please inform us whether you have separate external funding (e.g. a scholarship). The monthly living costs in Munich are at least 1400€.
Degree: A Master’s degree in in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electronic Engineering or a closely related field. Please inform us specifically about complected courses in the area of machine learning and optimization.
Scientific experience: Proficiency in data analytics and machine learning. Please inform us about completed publications and projects.
Programming experience: You need programming experience (particularly important are R, Python or C++). Please link us to projects you have been involved before or tell us how you obtained practical experience.
Communication: Very good communication and writing skills in English. German is an advantage.
Research proposal: A short research proposal, including your research interests and links to relevant literature. We are open to many different topics but please check our webpage to make sure your proposed project matches the interests of the group.
